Welcome to the Year 4 Class Page!

 

We have a fun packed year ahead of us with so many exciting things to learn and memories to make!

 

Here are some of the highlights that you will get to experience in Year 4 at South Hill!

• We will journey back in time to learn about the Romans and visit the Verulamium Museum in St. Albans to really bring our learning to life.  We will even stand in the very park where Boudicca led one of her revolts against the Romans and get to see a hypocaust (an ancient underfloor heating system!) from hundreds of years ago!

• We will learn about the Greeks and link this to our Summer PE lessons by creating our own mini Olympic games and by making our own Panathenaic stadium!

• We will be learning to play the Ukele, creating and designing our own electrical torch and designing and making a mosaic tile!

• We will study ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s stone’ and visit ‘Harry Potter Studios’ where we will get to immerse ourselves in this magical world with visits to places such as the Forbidden Forest, Platform 9 and ¾ and Gringotts's bank to name just a few to inspire our writing!

• We will take the lead and develop our acting, singing and dancing skills by performing in a Year 4 Production ! 

 

We are a two form entry school and in Year 4 our classes are called Maple and Holly.

 

• Maple class are taught by our Assistant Headteacher Mrs Farmery (Monday and Tuesday) and Mrs Cavenagh-Mainwaring  (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) and supported by Mrs Gibson.  

• Holly class are taught by Mr Wilkins (Monday) Mrs Clare (Tuesday - Friday) and supported by Miss Liddle.
