Welcome to the Year 5 Class Page  

   

We are so excited for the year ahead and sharing new, fantastic topics with your children. Our year starts with an exploration of the Viking Age as they look to invade Britain. Later on in Autumn, we will explore Earth and Space, including a trip to The National Space Centre. 

 

In the Spring term our focus is on the Ancient Egyptians and their way of life. Our learning will also take us to South America and we will explore the incredible geography and culture.  

 

Our Summer term centres around the local area and the enriching history Hertfordshire has. We also explore the great rivers of the world and their importance to those around them.  

  

In the Autumn term, Year Five will have Forest School on a Thursday afternoon. They will be going out despite the weather so please ensure they are prepared with appropriate clothing and footwear. A waterproof jacket and trainers or wellies are ideal as these can be worn with the school uniform.  

   

Children in Oak are taught by Mrs Carver and will be supported by Mrs Beamish and Miss Parkins. Silver Birch are taught by Mr Osborn and will be supported by Mrs Gibson.  

   

PE Lessons will be taught on the following days:  

Oak – Monday and Thursday  

Silver Birch – Wednesday and Friday  

On these days children need to be wearing their PE kit on arrival and will remain in their PE kit for the day.
