Building Character, Learning Together

The Role of School Governors at South Hill Primary
School governors play a vital role in the leadership and success of South Hill Primary School. They are a dedicated group of volunteers who work closely with the headteacher and school staff to ensure the school provides the best possible education for all pupils.
What Do Governors Do?
Governors help to:
Set the strategic direction of the school
Support and challenge the leadership team to ensure high standards of teaching and learning
Oversee financial performance, making sure money is well spent
Ensure accountability for the school’s outcomes and policies
Promote the school’s values, vision, and ethos
Governors do not get involved in the day-to-day running of the school, but they do make important decisions that shape its future.
Who Are Our Governors?
Our governing body is made up of individuals from a range of backgrounds, including parents, staff, and members of the local community. Each brings valuable skills and perspectives to help guide the school forward
Why Is Their Role Important?
Governors ensure that South Hill Primary remains a safe, inclusive, and high-achieving environment for all children. Their oversight helps maintain transparency, drive improvement, and uphold the school’s commitment to provide the best education for all pupils.
