Welcome to our Year 6 page! We are really looking forward to working with your children as they enter their final year with us here at South Hill. Year 6 is a special year group and we are very much looking forward to seeing the children reach their enormous potential as we work towards the SATs exams and as they begin their role as the oldest children in the school and as prefects. They will be taking on the role of prefects where they will be role models around the school and setting a good example for the younger children as well as being a 'Buddy' for the new Reception children.
Mrs Howard will teach Sycamore on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and Mrs Clare will teach the class on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Miss Fawcett will provide TA support throughout the week and Mr Nicholl will work with small intervention groups on a Monday and Tuesday with children from both classes. Mr Shane will teach Hazel all week with the exception of Monday afternoons when they will be taught by Mr Brathwaite and Fridays when the class will be taught by Mr Burr. Miss Bates will provide TA support throughout the week. Sycamore have PE on a Wednesday and a Friday, Hazel have two PE slots on a Monday.
Our creative curriculum focus for the first term will be 'World War 2', looking in particular what life was like for child evacuees, and we are very much looking forward to immersing the children in learning about this important historical time.
