Welcome to our Year 6 page! We are really looking forward to working with your children as they enter their final year with us here at South Hill. Year 6 is a special year group and we are very much looking forward to seeing the children reach their enormous potential as we work towards the SATs exams and as they begin their role as the oldest children in the school and as prefects. They will be taking on extra responsibilities around the school and setting a good example for the younger children as well as being a 'Buddy' for the new children starting in our Reception classes this year.
We are delighted to welcome Mr Shane to the Year 6 teaching team who is already an experienced teacher at South Hill; and to welcome Mrs Clare who is a new teacher to South Hill and who brings a wealth of experience from her previous schools.
Mrs Farmery teaches Sycamore on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and Mrs Clare teaches them on Thursday and Friday with Mr Nicholl providing TA support throughout the week. Mr Shane will teach Yew all week, with the exception of Thursday when the class will be taught by Mr Burr with Mrs Twomey providing TA support throughout the week. Mrs Farmery and Mr Shane are both part of the Senior Leadership team at South Hill, as Assistant Headteachers, and will continue to have some time out of class for their leadership duties.
Our creative curriculum focus for this term will be World War 2 and we are very much looking forward to immersing the children in learning about this important historical time.
Please use the links on this page for information about what we are doing this term and do not hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns or questions.
