PE and Sports Premium
The PE and Sports Premium is a government initiative that aims to improve the quality of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools in England. The initiative was introduced in 2013, and since then, schools have received significant additional PE funding to help them enhance their PE and sports provision.
How is the PE and Sports Premium used?
The Department for Education (DfE) wants to ensure that every child has equal access to high-quality physical education and a broad range of opportunities to enjoy, experience, and participate in sport and physical activity. Schools are encouraged to deliver at least two hours of high-quality PE each week, a well-rounded extracurricular programme, and chances to participate in competitive sports. The overarching aim is to boost children’s physical health and wellbeing while supporting their personal development.
South Hill School
At South Hill School, we recognise the positive contribution of PE and sport to the health, development and wellbeing of our pupils. We offer a varied PE curriculum and a range of extra-curricular activities for our pupils. We also ensure that all of our pupils take part in external competive sports each year. The PE and sport funding enables us to continually strengthen our PE curriculum, increase the sporting opportunities for all our pupils and develop our pupils' health and fitness as they encounter bespoke sporting experience.
