Year 2

Welcome to  Year 2, where we like to learn and work hard, whilst having fun in the process.

What an informative time we are going to have exploring our varied topics. This term we will look at Plants in Science,   Our Local Area in History and Coasts in Geography.

As always, we will be planning many engaging activities to inspire the children's learning so watch this space and Class Dojo to see the different variety of curriculum enhancement there will be. We are especially looking forward to our trip to the beach.

In Year 2, we enjoy making links across subjects as well as within subjects – everything links to something else. We enjoy the challenge of learning new things and try hard to improve our work, always thinking about whether it is the best we can do. We continue to learn that making mistakes is okay - and to try things again.

This term will be full of creativity too, with an amazing project for art week and creating tie-dye t-shirts in DT.  We are also excited that music this term will be taught to both classes by our music specialist, Mrs Toms. These lessons will take place on Thursdays for both classes.

As in previous terms Kingfishers will be taught by Mrs Masters and Mrs Fox. The children will be supported by Mrs Imrie. PE will be on Monday and Wednesday. We welcome Miss Gilmartin to the team who will be offering additional learning support.

Owls also continue to be taught by Mrs Albery. The children will be supported by Mrs Shah. PE will be on Thursday and Friday. We welcome Mrs Francis to the team who will be offering additional learning support.

Mr Brathwaite and Mr Kilty will be joining us to teach our PE this term and we will be doing dance, gymnastics and games.

Homework will be handed out each Friday. These practise tests will really help prepare your child for assessments in June so please complete them in a timely manner and return each Friday.   Power books will be changed on Mondays. Prime books will be changed on Fridays. Kingfishers will visit the library on a Tuesday, Owls will visit the library on a Wednesday, during these session children will choose their Pleasure books.
