Welcome to Year 2, where we love learning, working hard and having lots of fun along the way!

We are looking forward to an exciting and engaging term filled with opportunities for children to explore, discover and develop new skills. This term, in Science we will find out about animals including humans, in Geography we will find out about hot and cold places and in Art we will be making shape pictures. We have many more fascinating topics across the curriculum, helping children make meaningful connections between different subjects and the world around them.

Throughout the term, we will be planning a range of exciting activities and experiences to enrich the children's learning. Please keep an eye on Class Dojo and our school website to see what we have been up to and to stay informed about upcoming events.

In Year 2, we encourage children to be curious, resilient and independent learners. We celebrate effort and perseverance, helping children to understand that mistakes are an important part of learning and growth. We always encourage the children to challenge themselves and take pride in producing their very best work.

​

Creativity will continue to play an important role in our learning. The children will have opportunities to express themselves through art, design technology, music and drama, alongside their daily learning in English, Maths and the wider curriculum.

​

This year Kingfishers will be taught by Mrs Masters Monday – Wednesday and Mrs Cogger Wednesday- Friday and supported by Mrs Imrie.

​

Owls will be taught by Mrs Clare Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Mrs Fox will teach Owls on Thursdays. They will be supported by Miss Bell and Miss Foster.

​

Our PE lessons this term will help children develop their confidence, teamwork and physical skills through a variety of activities. Please ensure children wear PE kit on their PE day. Owls will have PE on Wednesdays and Fridays. Kingfishers will have PE on Mondays and Tuesdays.

​

Homework will be sent home each week on Fridays to support the children's learning and provide opportunities to practise key skills. Regular reading at home continues to be one of the most valuable ways to support your child's progress, and we thank you for your ongoing support with this. Power books will be changed on Mondays. Prime books will be changed on Fridays. Kingfishers will visit the library on a Tuesday, Owls will visit the library on a Wednesday, during these session children will choose their Pleasure books.
