Welcome to the Year 3 Class Page.

We have a very exciting year ahead and we are delighted to share our wonderful, new topics with you. We will start the year by heading back over 2.6 million years ago to the start of the Stone Age where we will look at what was essential for life for the early settlers and how this changed during the Bronze and Iron Age. Our learning extends across the curriculum and towards the end of the half term the children will enjoy a school trip to Celtic Harmony in Hertford where they will be submerged into a day in the life of Stone Age settlers. After half term we will start our unit on Pirates which will be an exciting and motivating approach to our ‘Map Skills’ topic in Geography.

In Spring Term we will take on two new topics for Year 3! We will delve into how the Anglo Saxons came to settle in Great Britain before moving onto an exciting topic about natural disasters for the second half term. We will be focusing particularly on Earthquakes and Volcanoes.

In Summer term we will be getting into the spirit of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee by learning about the life of our Queen and remembering her coronation which was 70 years ago! This topic will culminate in a Year Group ‘street’ party for which preparations will be made in our learning across the curriculum. Our final topic of the Year will see us learning about Venice in Geography. It will be a joy to get a flavour for the art and culture found in this fabulous city.
